These are the six key areas for the gun cleaning:
Step 1 ALWAYS ensure that the firearm is unloaded and in a safe direction!
Safe Firearm
Step 2 Carefully remove the gun apart so you can keep track of all parties. Please refer to the user manual for detailed instructions to disassemble a weapon. For most of the over / under, if the action is complete, remove the forestock (the wooden part, where the hand goes in front under the barrel) with the lever onforestock. With forestock, open the action of the weapon up and forward on the rod (do not let the barrels of the gun and fell to the ground when the action is open). Now you have three different games, the receivers (photos and trigger assembly), the drums and forestock. (Visually, too, follow our gun cleaning video for reference).
Step 3 Clean the gun with a solvent (eg Hoppe # 9). Inside the barrels, use a broom stick with a hole ora patch with solvent used to apply the patch. (Preferably, driven by the injury to the front of the barrel (the same direction of the shot / slug travels). Then with a clean, dry patches and push the patch through the barrel. Repeat this with clean change of patches (first solvent and then without it), until the patch is no longer out of dirt. Use a toothbrush with a solvent for the other metal parts of the gun to remove accumulated debris / deposits / "gunk".
Step 4 Remove any remainingSolvent from the surface. Clean the gun and all parts in order to remove residual solvent (which, if they can be harmful to metal).
Step 5 Clean the metal parts with light oil / lubricant / rust. To protect the gun and help them function properly, clean the metal parts with a thin coat of gun oil or lubricants such as silicone or remlub by Remington. Use sparingly, the lubricant / oil. A bit 'goes a long way. When storing the gun, try not to leaveThe fingerprints on it. While fingerprints should not do anything for the function of the weapon effects, are unpleasant and oils on the skin can damage the surface of the metal.
Step 6 Build and test a weapon, if it works properly. Hold the receiver vertically with the rod at an angle of 45 degrees to the ground, the barrels downward push on / in the listener to "hook" at the bottom of the barrel (s) in the receiver catches. Lift the front of theBarrels until it clicks. Now I bring you the forestock. Opened with the lever on the little forestock, slide locks forestock and gently close the latch. Then you open and close the breach of the gun to make sure that the installation was done properly. All parties should be a smooth transition, without excess fluid / oil / etc visible in any position (s) of the weapon. DO NOT use excessive force to the weapon. Chances are, though much (if any) are the muscles, something must be donewrong.
